Estou tricotando um xale e estou ansiosa para terminá-lo, mas cedi aos encantos da pequena Júlia. Apesar de ter apenas quatro anos ela já dá sinais de ter muito bom gosto! Sua mamãe Jaqueline me disse ela não quer qualquer gorro de tricô, ela quer um gorro feito à mão porque acha mais bonito!

Eu acho que a Júlia tem toda razão!

Charmosa como ela é, escolhi uma receita que há muito tempo queria tricotar. O gorro é tricotado aberto (não circularmente) em cordões de tricô e modelado com carreiras encurtadas. Então ele é fechado com grafting, ou seja, a costura simula uma carreira do gorro deixando-o com acabamento perfeito!

A receita pede agulhas número 7,0 mm mas, sendo este gorro para uma criança, usei agulhas número 4,5 mm e não fiz nenhuma modificação na receita, montando 24 pontos iniciais com um fio rosa pálido. Ficou minúsculo para a Júlia porém perfeito para a graciosa Isabela, minha vizinha de poucos meses.

Para fazer a montagem provisória utilizei o método que utiliza agulha de crochê, técnica muito bem ensinada pela querida Grace nesse vídeo.

Usando matemática, ou mais precisamente, usando progressão aritmética, adaptei a receita para ser tecida com 32 pontos iniciais. Agora sim, ficou perfeito para a Júlia!

I’m knitting a shawl and I’m anxious to finish it, but I couldn’t resist charming little Julia. Despite being only four years old she already give signs of having good taste. Her mommy Jaqueline told me she doesn’t want any knitted hat, she wants a handicrafted one because she think’s its more beautiful that way!I think she’s absolutely right!Due to her charm, I’ve chosen a pattern longed to knit. The hat is knit open (not circularly) in garter stitch and modeled with short rows. Then it’s closed using grafting, that is, a seaming that simulates an row of the hat making the finishing perfect!

The pattern requires 7,0 mm needles but because it’s a children’s hat I used US#7 / 4,5 mm needles and I didn’t modified anything on the pattern, casting on 24 stitches with a pale pink yarn. It resulted tiny for Julia but perfect for adorable Isabela, my neighbor who’s only a few months old.

I’ve made the provisional cast-on with the method that uses a crochet hook, a technique very well explained by dear Grace Karen on this video.

Using math, more precisily, using arithmetic progression, I adapted the pattern to be knitted starting with 32 stitches casted on. Yes, now it’s perfect for Julia!

Simplesmente amo os gorros da francesa Circé aux Belles Boucles. De sua autoria já havia tricotado o Gorro de Trança de Dezesseis Pontos.

O gorro Rue du College ficou nas minhas agulhas durante quase dois meses! É muito tempo para tricotar um gorro, eu sei. Uma combinação de fatos atrasaram sua finalização: trabalhos e provas do curso de francês e algumas viagens que fiz. Mas, um belo dia, voilá, o gorro saiu das agulhas!

Esse gorro é tricotado aberto em cordões de tricô, que adoro. Suas laterais são costuradas e depois devemos levantar pontos para tricotar circularmente o topo do gorro. Se ele não fosse tão charmoso teria desistido, pois tive de costurar e desmanchar inúmeras vezes até ficar satisfeita com o acabamento.

Ele será presenteado para uma linda garota de 6 anos, por isso fiz questão de caprichar! Se olharmos a fotografia da receita original, veremos que ele foi desenhado para ser um gorro bem largo, mas o fio que usei é bem mais fino que o indicado para a receita. O resultado foi um gorro muito justo, mesmo tendo tricotado várias carreiras adicionais para torná-lo maior.

I simply love the hats from Circé aux Belles Boucles. I’ve knitted the 16 Sixteen Cable Hatfrom this author.The Rue du College Hat stayed on my needles for almost two months! It’s a lot of time to knit a hat, I know. A combination of facts delayed finalizing it: paperworks and exams of the French course and some trips I’ve done. Then, on a fine day, voilá, the hat came out of the needles!

This hat is knitted open in garter stitch, which I adore. The sides are seamed and then we should pick up stitches to knit circularly the crown of the hat. If it wasn’t so charming I would have gave it up, because I had to seam it and undo it several times until I was happy with the finish.

It will be given to a beautiful 6 years old girl, that’s why I did my best! If we look at the photograph of the original pattern, we’ll see that it was designed to be a slouch hat, but the yarn I used is way thinner than the yarn indicated for this pattern. It resulted in a very fit hat, even though I’ve knitted several additional rows to make it bigger.

para uma garotinha sofisticada

Ela acabou de fazer um aninho e eu simplesmente adoro ouvir suas histórias, que acompanho com alegria quando contadas por sua adorável mamãe! Ela é um lindo bebê ruivo, com grandes olhos castanhos, de personalidade forte, é inteligente, encantadora e agora está dando seus primeiros passos.

Foi para essa pequena dama que tricotei o cardigã Baby Sophisticate, criado por Linden Heflin, que gentilmente me autorizou a traduzir sua receita para o português. A tradução pode ser acessada em https://tricoemprosa.com/traducao/baby-sophisticate/.

Esse cardigã deveria ter sido entregue juntamente com o Gorro Bebê Urso. Era minha intenção terminá-lo antes de seu aniversário, mas eu tenho esse pequeno problema com prazos, principalmente com prazos de tricô…

Tricotar esse cardigã é muito fácil porque ele não tem costuras. Ele é tricotado aberto na agulha circular, de cima para baixo, ou seja, da gola para a barra. Eu tricotei o tamanho 6-12 meses.

A receita pede um fio mais grosso do que aquele que utilizei. Eu tive de fazer alguns ajustes para que o casaco não ficasse muito pequeno:

Primeiro eu aumentei a cava das mangas. Depois de colocar os pontos das mangas em espera, montei seis pontos antes de retomar os pontos das costas, fazendo com que a cava dos braços ficasse um pouco maior.
As carreiras encurtadas (wrap and turn ou ‘envolver e virar’) que dão forma à gola foram trabalhadas à 30 pontos do final da carreira (não à 22 pontos como pede a receita para o tamanho 6-12 meses).

She’s just turned one and I simply adore listening to her stories, which I follow with joy when her adorable mother tells them! She’s a beautiful redhead baby, with big brown eyes, strong personality, she’s smart, charming and now she’s giving her first steps.

It was for this young lady that I knitted the Baby Sophisticate cardigan, designed by Linden Heflin, who kindly authorized me to translate her pattern into portuguese. The translation can be accessed at https://tricoemprosa.com/traducao/baby-sophisticate/.

This cardigan should be delivered with the Gorro Bebê Urso. I intended to finish it before her birthday, but I have this little problem with deadlines, especially deadlines of knitting projects…

Knitting this cardigan is very easy because it has no seams. It’s knitted flat on circular needles, top-down, that is, from the collar to the bottom. I’ve knitted the size 6-12 months.

The pattern asks for a thicker yarn than the one I used. I had to make some adjustments so that the cardigan wouldn’t turn out small:

First I increased the armhole. After putting the stitches of the sleeves on holder, I casted on six stitches before joining yarn to back, so the armhole would be slightly bigger.
The wrapped and turned stitches which gives shape to the collar where worked at 30 stitches from the end (not 22 stitches that the pattern asks for size 6-12 months).

Fico feliz da vida quando vou começar um novo projeto! Com a proximidade do primeiro aniversário da filha de uma colega de trabalho muitíssimo querida, comecei a procurar a receita de um gorro bem lindo para presentear o bebê.

Eu encontrei a receita perfeita, o fio perfeito e comecei a tricotar. Quando tricoto sempre confio na receita e até então nunca havia tido problema algum. Mas desta vez escolhi uma receita cujas instruções não eram muito claras. E eu, que quase nunca faço modificações, tive de fazer a receita funcionar, porque essa receita realmente é muito fofa.

As instruções dizem “costurar toda a parte de trás do gorro”, o que está errado. Devemos costurar a parte de trás até o início das diminuições ou até a metade do comprimento. Desse modo, teremos um gorro com duas abas laterais, uma à direita e outra à esquerda.

As instruções das orelhas também não são muito claras. Apenas dizem para fazer as costuras das orelhas e depois costurar as orelhas ao gorro. Para dar forma à orelha devemos dobrar a borda da montagem dos pontos ao meio e costurá-la. Fazer o mesmo com a borda do arremate dos pontos. Então devemos dobrar toda orelha ao meio e costurá-la ao gorro.

Apesar da improvisação eu fiquei muito satisfeita com o resultado e espero que mamãe e bebê também fiquem felizes com o presente!

Atualização: acabei de ver que a receita foi corrigida!

I get so happy when I’m about to start a new project! With the proximity of the first anniversary of a very loved coworker’s baby girl, I started to look for the pattern of a very beautiful hat to give to the baby.I found the perfect pattern, the perfect yarn and started knitting it. When I knit I always trust the pattern and so far I’ve never had any trouble. But this time I’ve chosen a pattern whose directions weren’t very clear. And I, who nearly never do modifications, had to make the pattern work, because this pattern is really very cute.

The directions says “sew up the back seam”, which is wrong. We should sew the back until the beggining of the decreases or halfway of the back. This way, we end up with a hat with two side bands, the right and the left.

Directions for the ears aren’t very clear too. It only tells you to sew the seams of the ears and then sew the ears on the hat. To shape the ear you should fold it in half at the cast-on edge and sew it. Then we should do the same with the bind-off edge. Then fold the entire ear in half and sew it on the hat.

Despite having to improvise I’m very happy with the result and I hope both mother and baby be happy with the gift!

Update: I’ve just found out that the pattern has been corrected!

Finalmente terminei o xale Aeolian esta semana e nesse momento ele está todo alfinetado sendo bloqueado sobre a mesa de jantar.

Esta receita é modular e a versão que tricotei foi um pouquinho maior que o tamanho pequeno. Aqui o número de repetições que usei para tricotar esse xale:

Gráfico Yucca: fiz quatro repetições do Gráfico Yucca, como pede receita original para tricotar o tamanho pequeno. Se quisermos alterar o número de repetições desse gráfico, a designer recomenda que seja tricotado um número par de repetições.
Gráfico de Transição: uma única vez.
Gráfico Agave: uma única vez. Na receita original não é necessário tricotar esse gráfico para o tamanho pequeno. Mas se quisermos alterar, a designer sugere tricotar esse gráfico quantas vezes desejarmos.

Utilizei o fio Abuelita Yarns Baby Merino Lace, que não tem espessura muito uniforme. Ele é um fio de espessura fingering mas algumas partes variam de sport a lace. Quando era necessário tricotar com a conta tornava-se um pouquinho mais difícil trazer o fio pelo buraco da conta quando era a parte mais grossa do e só, nada grave.

O mais importante é amei esse fio e ele é 100% merino então quando acabou um novelo e fui emendar o outro usei a técnica de junção feltrada, que funcionou perfeitamente.

O que não quero esquecer quando for tricotar outro xale Aeolian:

Até o Gráfico de Transição eu havia usado marcadores de pontos somente nas duas extremidades e entre o ponto central, como pede a receita. Ao iniciar o Gráfico Agave coloquei marcadores de pontos a cada repetição do padrão (aquela parte contornada de vermelho nos gráficos). Facilitou muito a tarefa de acompanhar o gráfico e checar os pontos da última repetição.
Essa é a primeira vez que tricoto nupps e escolhi fazê-los com sete voltas. Na primeira vez que tricotei o avesso da carreira de nupps, cometi várias vezes o erro de fazer o ponto tricô das sete voltas do nupp e incluir um ponto a mais. Desmanchei toda carreira do avesso dos nupps e tricotei-a novamente.

Achei difícil bloquear os pontos das flores na borda do xale e então decidi deixá-las assim mesmo, com dobras.

I’ve finished Aeolian shawl this week and right now it’s all pinned up been blocked over the dinning table.

This pattern is modular and the version I knitted is a bit larger then the small size. Here’s the number of repetitions I used to knit this shawl:

Yucca Chart: I did four repetitions of Yucca Chart, as the original pattern asks to knit the small size. If we wish to change the number of repetitions of this chart, the designer suggests to work this chart an even number of times.
Transition Chart: once.
Agave Chart: once. It’s not asked to work this chart for the small size. But if we wish to modify it, the designer suggests to work this chart any times we want.

I’ve used Abuelita Yarns Baby Merino Lace, which doesn’t have a uniform thickness. It’s a fingering weight yarn with portions varying from sport to lace. When it was necessary to knit with a bead it was a little bit harder to bring the yarn through the hole of the bead, if it was the sport portion of the yarn and that’s all, nothing serious.

The important thing is that I love this yarn and it’s 100% merino so when one ball was over and I had to join the another one I used the felted joining technique, which worked perfectly. What I don’t want to forget when knitting another Aeolian shawl:

Until the Transition Chart I’ve used stitch markers on each border of the shawl and between the central point, as the pattern stated. At the beginning of Agave Chart I added stitch markers at each pattern repeats (that part outlined in red on the charts). It simplified both tracking the chart and checking the number of stitches knitted on the last repetition.
This is the first time I do nupps and I choose do knit them with seven stitches. The first time I knitted the wrong side of the row of nupps, many times I made the mistake of purling the seven loops of the nupp including the next stitch. Frogged the whole row and knitted it again.

I found it hard block the stitches of the edging flowers so I’ve decided to let them like this, with ruffles.
