O novelo foi comprado há muito tempo, de fio finíssimo, macio, 100% merino, perfeito para tecer essa receita.

A receita havia sido traduzida há muito tempo também.

Sinceramente, não sei o que me impediu de montar os pontos dessa xale antes!

Quanto mais solto ficar o arremate, mais drapeada ficará a borda.

casaco chickadee com seus botões

Meu casaco Chickadee foi finalizado há mais de duas semanas. Tricotar o corpo foi muito tranquilo, apenas uma questão de seguir as instruções, realizar as diminuições para modelar a cintura e depois fazer os aumentos para modelar o quadril.

Depois que o corpo é tricotado devemos levantar pontos ao redor de todo o casaco para tricotar a borda em cordões de tricô, circularmente. Os pontos são levantados em volta da lateral direita, da gola, da lateral esquerda e em volta de toda a barra do casaco. Devo dizer: são muitos pontos! Mas altamente recompensador quando terminamos.

Eu queria muito terminar o casaco antes de me submeter à uma cirurgia nos olhos. E consegui! Terminei no prazo que queria! E mais, tive tempo de embutir as pontas, que não eram poucas e ficou faltando apenas pregar os botões.

A cirurgia é simples, mas o pós-operatório da técnica empregada é um pouco mais demorado. Isso explica a minha ausência da blogosfera (a quantidade de e-mails não lidos em minha caixa de entrada está enorme!) e também a demora em pregar os botões. Apenas recentemente consegui pregá-los. Eles são de coco, marrom escuro.

Amei tudo nesse casaco: amei tricotá-lo e o resultado final! E já estou escolhendo o próximo casaco que tricotarei do livro Little Red In The City.

My Chickadee sweater was finished more than a couple of weeks ago. Knitting the body was very ease, just a matter of following the instructions, make the decreases to shape the waist and then work the increases to shape the hips.

Then we should pick up stitches around the whole sweater to knit its border in garter stitch, circularly. The stitches are picked up around the right side, the neck, the left side and around the bottom of the coat. And I must say it: it’s a lot of stitches to pick! But it’s hightly gratifying when it’s finished.

I wanted to finished the sweater before I went on an eyes surgery. And I did it! I finished it on my deadline! And more, I had the time to weave in the ends, and there were many of them, and the only thing that was missing was its buttons.

The surgery was simple, but the its recuperation takes a little longer. It explains my absence from the blogosphere (the quantity of unread e-mails on my inbox is huge!) and also explains what took me from sewing the buttons. Only recently I managed to sew the buttons in. They’re coconut buttons, dark brown.

I loved everything about this sweater: I loved knitting it and how it turned out! And I’m already picking up the next sweater I’ll knit from Little Red In The City book.

casaco chickadee – mangas

Nessa semana, terminei de tricotar as mangas do casaco Chickadee. Foi um pouco diferente dos casacos top-down de bebê que havia tricotado antes, nos quais os pontos das mangas ficavam em espera até que o corpo do casaco fosse terminado.

No Chickadee não se deixa os pontos das mangas em espera: todo o casaco é deixado em espera na longa agulha circular enquanto tricotamos as mangas com outras agulhas (eu usei agulhas de pontas duplas). Resulta que as mangas são tricotadas já unidas à pala do casaco, o que para mim foi uma novidade.

Para montar os pontos adicionais da cava do braço usei pela primeira vez o Cable Cast-On. Adorei o resultado! Os pontos montados criam uma borda firme e bem acabada. Para aprender eu usei este vídeo e o tutorial de Cable Cast-on do Purl Bee pois ele explica como montar os pontos no meio do tricô. Nesse caso devemos virar a peça no lado avesso antes de iniciar a montagem dos pontos.

Já fui perguntada se. para tricotar com duas cores, devemos arrematar os pontos antes de mudar a cor do fio. É muito mais simples: apenas soltamos o fio da cor que não iremos mais tricotar e começamos a tricotar com a outra cor.

Ao usar uma nova cor pela primeira vez, eu gosto de amarrar o fio da nova cor ao fio do último ponto tricotado com um nó frouxo. Esse nó será desmanchado mais tarde e as pontas do fio serão embutidas. A fotografia acima o momento em que iria começar a tricotar com o fio roxo. Eu o amarrei ao fio branco e comecei a tricotar com o fio roxo. A fotografia abaixo mostra como ficou depois que tricotei uma das quatro agulhas de pontas duplas.

This week, I’ve finished the sleeves of the Chickadee sweater. It was a little bit different from other top-down baby sweaters I’ve knit in which the stitches of the sleeves had to be put on hold until the body of the sweater was finished.

When knitting Chickadee, we won’t put the stitches of the sleeves on hold. We put the whole sweater on hold at the long circular needle, while we knit the sleeve with different knitting needles (I used double pointed needles). It turns out that the sleeves are knitted united to the yoke f the sweater and it was new for me.

To cast on the aditional stitches of the armholes I used the Cable Cast-On for the first time. I loved the result! The cast-on stitches form a firm border, well finished. To learn the technique I used this video and the Cable Cast-on Tutorial from Purl Bee because it explains how to cast on the stitches in the middle of the knitting. In this case we should turn the work to the wrong side before starting.

I’ve been asked before whether, in order to knit with two colors, we should cast off the stitches before changing the color of the yarn. It’s much simpler: we just let go of the yarn we won’t knit anymore and start knitting with the new color.

When using the new color for the first time I like to knot the new yarn to the yarn of the last stitch worked with a loose knot. Later this knot will be undone and the ends will be weaved. The photograph above shows the moment I would start knitting with the purple yarn. I tied it to the white yarn and started knitting with the purple yarn. The photograph below shows how it looks like after knitting the first of the four double pointed needles.

casaco chickadee – pala

Atualmente estou tricotando o casaco Chickadee desenhado pela Ysolda e agora terminei de tricotar a pala. Esse casaco é tricotado de cima para baixo mas aberto, ou seja, tricota-se o lado direito, vira-se o trabalho e então tricota-se o lado avesso.

Foi a primeira vez que tricotei em jacquard pelo lado avesso. Como só havia tricotado gorros em jacquard usando agulha circular sempre tricotava olhando o lado direito da peça.

O motivo em jacquard ficou um pouco repuxado em algumas partes. Não irei desmanchar, decidi mantê-lo assim mesmo.

Agora já é hora de tricotar as mangas!

I’m currently knitting the Chickadee sweater designed by Ysolda and now I’ve finished the yoke. This sweater is knitted top down but flat, that is, we knit the right side, we turn the work and then we knit the wrong side.

It’s the first time I do the stranding on the wrong side. I’ve only knitted stranding hats using circular needles so I’ve always knitted looking at the right side of the work.

The colorwork motif turned out puckered at some areas. I won’t frog, I’ve decided to keep it that way.

Now it’s time do knit the sleeves!

chapeuzinho vermelho chegou

Ysolda Teague é uma designer escocesa que cria adoráveis receitas de tricô. Como acompanho seu blog, sabia que ela estava trabalhando freneticamente no Little Red in the City, seu último livro que traz apenas receitas de suéteres.

Em maio, pensando em como essa designer escreve de maneira tão descomplicada, comprei seu livro no Ravelry antes mesmo dele ser enviado para a gráfica. Quem comprava a versão impressa podia baixar os capítulos em PDF. Como não gosto de ler em monitores de computador, esperei pacientemente pela chegada do livro.

Em julho recebi este envelope estampado com o Bob, o mascote do Ravelry:

Uma resenha do livro foi publicada no Tricoteiras.

Agora me preparo para tricotar uma receita desse livro. Eu sei que está fazendo calor demais. Eu sei que somente poderei estrear o casaco em junho do ano que vem. Mas quer saber? Vou tricotar um casaco!

Como tricoto somente à noite, algumas noites por semana, este será um projeto que irá demorar um pouquinho mais para sair das agulhas. Novas postagens serão publicadas à medida em que houver progressos.

Por enquanto, só escolhi os fios e terminei de tricotar a amostra.

Ysolda Teague is a Scottish designer who creates lovely knitting patterns.

In May, after pondering on how she writes her patterns in such a simple way, I bought her latest book on Ravelry before it was even sent to the graphic. Buying the printed version allowed us to download the chapters in PDF format. Because I don’t like reading on computer monitors, I paciently waited for the arrival of the book.

In July I receaved this envelope ilustrated with Bob, Ravelry’s mascot.

A review of the book was published at Tricoteiras.

Now I’m getting ready to knit a pattern from this book. I know it’s too hot. I know I’ll only wear the sweater next Juin. But I will do knit a sweater!

Because I only knit at night, some nights per week, this will be a project that will take a little longer to get off the needles. New posts will be published as long as progresses are being made.

For now, I’ve only chosen the yarn and I’ve finished knitting the swatch.
